INFORMATION, REGULATIONS, PROCEDURES PA
- THE ACADEMIC YEAR PA
- The academic year consists of two semesters and four terms. PA
- The first semester runs from February to June, and the second semester runs from the end of July to end of November.
- A semester consists of 16 weeks: 13 weeks of lectures, one-week study break, and two weeks of examinations, including at least two days of supplementary examinations. PA
- The first term is the period from the start of the academic year (end of January/beginning of February) to Easter time, and the second term runs from soon after Easter to June. These two terms make up the first semester.
- The third term runs from the end of July until the Michaelmas Break (usually around the third week of September), while the fourth term runs from the fourth week of September to November. These two terms make up the second semester.
- The academic year consists of 32 weeks of lectures, assignments, study break, and examinations, all of which is given over two semesters. Examinations are held at the end of each semester, beginning a week after lectures have ended.
- A one-week study break before the end of each semester is allowed for preparation for examinations.
- The examination session occupies the last two weeks of the semester.
ADMISSION TO INDIVIDUAL PROGRAMMES PA
Subject to the regulations in section PG 6, individual programmes may establish their own rules and regulations for the admission of students.
The Exemptions Committee determines on an individual basis the instances that may require a student’s admission to a programme without the student having fulfilled all or part of the requirements stipulated for admission to that programme.
Without prejudice to the provisions for RPL and CAT as these are contemplated in paragraph PG 6.3 and P.G 6.4, the Exemptions Committee may refuse to register a student for a programme if the student’s previous academic attainments are, in the opinion of the Committee, of an unacceptable standard and/or if, in the judgment of the Exemptions Committee, the level of life or work experience of the student does not meet the requirements for admission to the programme.

Students are to register before the first day of lectures of each semester for those modules which they will follow.
The procedure for the completion of module registration forms is determined by the office of the Registrar, and the forms are made available by that office before the start of each semester.
The majority of students follow the course of studies that has been determined for their qualification and/or for their year group. Students following the Personalized Study Programme (PSP) schedules must complete their module registration forms in consultation with the appointed Academic Advisor. outcomes of different types of assessment.
