On 19th of September 2025, Green Hearts South Africa, together with SJTI staff and students, Sbongumbomvu School, and Thrive Christian Coolege, successfully held an Arbor Month Awareness Walk that powerfully affirmed a shared commitment to environmental care and ecological responsibility.

The event brought together learners, educators, and community partners in a spirit of unity, hope, and action. What began as a simple awareness walk quickly became a meaningful public witness to the importance of protecting and nurturing our environment. The energy, presence, and enthusiasm of all participants transformed the day into a living reminder that care for creation is both a shared duty and a moral responsibility.

Special appreciation is extended to the students who carried placards with inspiring messages, giving voice to environmental advocacy; to the staff who coordinated and supported the event behind the scenes; and to the community partners who walked in solidarity throughout the day. Each contribution played a vital role in the success of the initiative.

Through this collective action, participants echoed the call articulated by Pope Francis in Laudato Si’:
“Humanity still has the ability to work together in building our common home” (LS 13).

The Arbor Month Awareness Walk served not only as a moment of reflection but also as a call to continued action—encouraging communities to keep walking, planting, educating, and advocating for a healthier and more sustainable planet.
